ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Janea D. Harris is an author, poet and community advocate who loves using creative writing to help children gain a better understanding of complex topics. She enjoys writing for people of all ages and is often inspired by current events. Janea is a 2021 nominee for the "Best of the Net," for her poem entitled, Urban Desert. She is the owner of Supherbooks, LLC and her published children's books include, "Through the Window of Winter the Rabbit" (2020) and "All Girls Have Sup-HER Powers, The Power of Voice" (2019).
Prior to becoming an author, Janea spent over 15 years as an educator. She learned that children often discover lasting life-long lessons in the books that they read and that reading truly opens the door to endless opportunities. She is continually inspired by children and their ability to adapt to most any situation. She is determined to develop, write and publish books that inspire and motivate.
When she is not writing, Janea loves spending time with her family partaking of the arts and volunteering with various community organizations on the North Shore of Chicago, IL. She is the Co-President and a founding member of Insight Advocacy, an organization dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion on the North Shore.
Janea also serves on the boards of The Art Center Highland Park, Reach Out and Read, IL, District 112 Foundation and was appointed to the City of Highland Park's Human Relations Advisory Group.
